Cheers to:
- Craig Bradley, Bradley Electric (973) 763-4232 Craig and Peter upgraded the service to the house and rewired most of the K&T
without running lines on the exterior and with minimal plaster
breakage. They also tolerated the large black cat who insisted on
supervising their work.
- All Clear Plumbing (973) 762-5455 I plucked them from
the yellow pages when the 'name' plumbers stood me up, and Frank has
now replaced every corroded valve in the house, in addition to stopping
the 2nd floor bath from melting the kitchen ceiling. Thanks to
Frank, I got through this entire winter without a heating system
meltdown.
- VinPat Construction (973) 325-3435 The Garage work was on time, on budget, and looks terrific!
- GreeneRose Construction (908) 876-9637 Many, many kudos to Mike McKell and Dave Greene. The Sleeping Porch looks terrific, and I cant's say enough good things about the end result in the living room! Working with them has been a pleasure.
- Top Hat & Tails Chimney Service (973) 761-1054
They've never left a smudge in the house and did some very nice repair
work
- Jerry Buckingham, Exterminator Extraordinaire (973)
762-6760 Got critters eating your house? Jerry successfully
eradicated the carpenter bees that were eating my garage last year.

Oh, God - Never Again:
- Mark Four Enterprises (Kitchen Cabinet Refacing) So bad, I won't even give you a phone number. See A Better Kitchen for the whole sordid story.
- Steve Spadafino, Painter. Steve is another
"overpromise/underdeliver" case. He'd fall under Mixed Reviews
except that he dropped off the face of the planet for more than two
months, leaving a job unfinished and wasn't terribly pleasant when I
called him on it after discovering that he'd painted widows shut.
The reglazing that he agreed to was never done, I had to have somebody
else put a closet back together, and although he promised to
repair/replace the screen that he ripped, that too was left undone.

Mixed Reviews:
- Scott's Roofing & Siding (973) 731-0019 Not sure
what happened with these folks... They did a great job at laying
a new flat roof over the sunroom, but when I talked to them later that
year about an ice dam problem on the same roof, they came out, said
they needed to think about it and promptly dropped off the face of the
planet.
- Derrick Williams, The Floor Doctor (973) 592-9171
Derrick did some really nice work sanding and refinishing the 1st and
2nd floor hardwoods and his pricing was more than reasonable. I
think my reservations with recommending him probably come from his
tendency to overpromise and underdeliver; he's definitely something of
a showman :-)
