May 4, 2002:

The electrician is coming in 2 weeks to upgrade the service to the house and to start the rewire.  This is going to entail much breaking of plaster, and I figured that it would be far better to go ahead and get the paneling out of the sun room before he shows up as this is one of the rooms that is not only being completely rewired, but we're going to open up the ceiling and put in wiring for fans.

Now that the windows in the sunroom are all operational (they've been painted shut for at least the last 10 years), it's rapidly becoming a very pleasant place.  The Traveling Felines fight over the prime windowsills, and I'm dying to get to the point where I can furnish it.

So bright and early Saturday morning, I grabbed my trusty prybar and started ripping the stuff down.  I knew there had been a leak at one time that had caused damage to 2 of the windows and had badly stained the floor, but I've watched it all winter and the leak is no longer active.  The big question in my mind was the state of the window trim - had the POs completely destroyed it in their zeal to cover the entire room with cheap paneling?  Or had they just slapped the paneling up willy-nilly?

11 hours, much cursing, 6 band-aids, and three visits from curious neighbors later, I had my answers...

"Gee, Bob.  I think I'll take what's behind door number 2."
