| about |  home | back|

The kitchen of this humble abode was apparently re-worked in the mid-1960s.  An addition was put on the back of the house, doubling the kitchen space from the original 8'x8', but the owners at the time recycled the original 1920's cabinets  and made some questionable layout choices (you can not stand at the sink and load the dishwasher, among others).

They also  failed to insulate the addition so the kitchen is a chilly place in the winter, and in the worst cold spells, the pipes that run up through the unheated crawl space have a nasty tendency to freeze.

At closing, everything that wasn't yellow was covered in navy blue floral wallpaper that was infested with years of cooking grease and other unappetizing splatters.  The kitchen will be redone completely as soon as finances will allow, but the wallpaper had to go now!  The trick is going to be finding a paint color that will not look appalling against these cabinets for the next 3-5 years...
